In Septemer 2000 I came across the Pacific Ocean to the United States as a Stillwell Scholar to pursue a Master's degree in Conference Interpretation.

In May 2002 I earned my MA in Conference Interpretation (I took 66 credits while 60 credits are required)from the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of Monterey Institute of International Studies.

Also in May 2002 I recived a Professional Certificate for passing professional exams for Consecutive Interpretation (both from Chinese to English and from English to Chinese) and Simultaneous Interpretation (both from Chinese to English and from English to Chinese).

In-service Training While Working as a Translator and Interpreter

From September to December 1998 I took a Simultaneous Interpretation course (part of a Master's program in Interpretation)after work at the China Foreign Affairs University.

In 1997 I was sent by the USDA Beijing Office to Washinton D.C. and Oregon State for a 2-week long training.

Future Plans

I plan to continue going to relevant seminars and workshops to learn and to exchange ideas about translation and interpretation.

I also plan to write a book Interpretation as a Profession.

When time permits, I plan on giving presentations on translation and interpretation at Chinese or American colleges/institutes.
